Ecru
#c2ae93
Unbleached linen and raw silk are what Ecru recalls, and the word itself is French for unbleached. With a lightness near 72 and a modest yellow lean, it reads as a warm, sandy beige with a faint rosy softness rather than a true cream. Against Vandar Poel's Blue it becomes the pale half of a calm, nautical pairing, while Hay's Russet pulls it toward old leather and tweed. On white it manages only 2.1:1, so it cannot carry text there, but black type on Ecru reads easily at 9.8:1. Think book cloth, natural-fiber upholstery, or a quiet page background behind dark text.
