Sepia
#644b1e
Sepia takes its name from the cuttlefish, whose ink was once used for drawing, and the swatch has the warm, faded brown of old photographs and wash drawings. It is dark, with a yellowish lean that keeps it from looking reddish. Yellow Orange lights it up like amber against wood; Veronia Purple and Taupe Brown, both muted mauve-browns, make a dusky, antique group; Black deepens it further. On white it reaches 8.2:1, ideal for body text in a softer tone than black. Try it for book typography, archival-style stationery, or leather bindings.
