Sudan Brown

#a36752

Sudan Brown is a reddish mid-brown, like terracotta darkened with age or the bark of a cedar. Red and yellow are balanced in it, giving a dusty warmth rather than a fiery one. Hermosa Pink lifts it into a soft, powdery pairing; Glaucous Green adds a cool, sage complement; Pansy Purple pushes it toward a deep, wine-colored richness. Like other mid-value colors it sits in an awkward spot for contrast, at about 4.5:1 on white and 4.6:1 on black, so test it before relying on it for small type. It suits clay pottery, upholstery leather, and warm wall finishes.
