Dusky Madder Violet
#4e1d4c
Dusky Madder Violet is a very dark aubergine, a purple-black with a soft red warmth. Madder is a plant whose root has been used for red dyes for centuries. Fawn pairs it with a pale, dusty pink-beige for a gentle, vintage feel, Yellow Orange makes it bright and dramatic, and Hay's Russet keeps the pairing warm and autumnal. At around 13.1:1 against white it handles text easily, and it makes an interesting dark background with lighter type. Use it for velvet, dark kitchen cabinetry or a wine label.
