Nocturnal and intensely dark. Hay's Russet, a deep brick brown, rests on Dull Violet Black, an almost-black indigo, like dried cherries in shadow or embers in a winter grate. Contrast is minimal, so any lettering needs a light accent. For atmosphere it is hard to beat: a whisky brand, a speakeasy interior or a box of premium dark chocolate.
